Iditarod 2014

In early March the biggest and hardest dog sledge race of the wolrd takes place in Alaska, named the Iditarod. This year 70 mushers participated from which about 50 reached the finish line. The trail starts in Anchorage and ends in Nome. The fastest team needed about 8 and a half days to get there. I have read a lot about the race and watched several TV documentations in the past so it was my dream to visit the start ceremony in Anchorage. This March my dream came true. It was a lot of fun and very exiting. I enjoyed both the ceremonial start in Anchorage on Saturday and the real start in Willow, some miles out of the city. Here are some of my best shots of this amazing event.
